✨The Ten-Minute Weekly Review Inside TaskSimply

By (danielziedins.com)

How to close a week in TaskSimply: celebrate what finished, rescue overdue work, file the inbox, look ahead, and name one outcome. Written by Daniel Ziedins.

A weekly review dies when it becomes a second job. The version that lasts is short enough to finish on a tired evening and specific enough that next week is already different when you stand up.

TaskSimply now has that pass built in. Open Weekly Review from the sidebar, search for it in the command palette, or press g then r. Give it about ten minutes. The screen walks five steps, and every decision happens in place.

1. Celebrate

Start with what actually closed in the last seven days. The point is not a score. It is evidence that the week moved, including the strongest day. If the list is empty, that is information: the next step is a small rescue, not a speech about discipline.

2. Overdue

Each slipped task gets one of three honest choices. Put it on Today if it still matters this week. Move it to Next week if the date was wrong. Or Let it go, which clears the due date so the task stops pretending to be urgent. Clearing a date is not the same as finishing the work. It just stops a false deadline from crowding the real ones.

3. Inbox

Unfiled tasks are the ones you captured and never sorted. File each one into a list so it shows up where you will actually look. If you have no lists yet, make one first. A pile with no home will still be a pile next Monday.

4. The next seven days

Look at what is already scheduled. If the week is already full, move something before you add more. An open week is a gift. Decide what deserves it.

5. One thing

Write the single outcome that would make this week a success. TaskSimply remembers it for the week and adds it to Today at high priority. Change the wording if you need to. A new task is created only when the outcome itself changes, so you do not stack duplicates by reviewing twice.

A week with twelve priorities is a week with none. Name one.

Same day, same ten minutes. The weekly planning checklist is the paper version of this rhythm if you want to walk a team through it first. The in-app review is the version you can finish from your phone. The longer method is in how to build a weekly planning system that lasts, and the feature itself is documented on the Weekly Review page.

Quick answers

How do I open the Weekly Review in TaskSimply?

Open Weekly Review from the sidebar or the command palette, or press g then r. Installed home-screen apps can also use the Weekly Review shortcut, which opens /app?view=review.

What are the five steps of the TaskSimply Weekly Review?

Celebrate what finished, decide what to do with overdue work, file unfiled tasks into lists, look at the next seven days, and name one outcome. That outcome is remembered for the week and added to Today.

What does Let it go do to an overdue task?

It clears the due date. The task stays in the workspace and is not marked done. A false deadline stops competing with real ones.
